How To Read These Numbers
Volatility score = total lap inversions ÷ (grid size × total laps). Normalised so different race lengths and grid sizes are comparable. A score above 1.0 means on average, every driver swapped places with at least one other driver relative to the starting grid, every single lap. The 2026 regulations were designed to push this number higher.
